who knew?

okay, here's a great example of the kind of strange yet interesting and very cool information that I somehow encounter on a daily basis while I am surfing the web ---scientists investigating commonplace myths. A chicken can survive after its head is chopped off? click below to find out the truth about this and other interesting stories like a cat always lands on its feet when it falls, or it takes seven years to digest gum.

I could map out the chain of links that led me here, but I won't bother because it is so bizarre and convoluted .... suffice it to say that THIS kind of site is why I LOVE the internet!

oh, and while I am on the subject of science, this guy blew my mind.
www.brucelipton.com. I think his book is called The Biology of Belief, and he turns some long and closely held conventional beliefs about genetics and health inside out. fascinating and important reading.

equine expiration

in my inbox today:

If your horse dies, get off. -source unknown

I had to laugh out loud. such simple wisdom, yet so penetrating. how often do we continue trying to ride a dead horse?

recognize any of these? persisting in a conversation with somone who has already been emotionally triggered and cannot hear clearly any more ... saying the same thing to our kids over and over again without realizing that our voice sounds like the droning of Charlie Brown's teacher to them ... maintaining the same mindless daily habits even though they deaden our life force ... continually complaining about a situation that bothers us without taking any action to change it.

care to join me in a dead horse hunt today? I figure they should be easy prey since they can't run away!

look for ideas that no longer thrill you, habits that bore you, responsibilities that really aren't, stuff like that. you don't have to kill them off, since they are already dead. just stop riding them.

after you dismount, look around your inner corral for a feisty stallion who is chomping at the bit; an idea that gives you goosebumps, a bigger and bolder vision, a dream that has ripened while you were busy elsewhere. hop in THAT saddle and see where it takes you.

ahhhh, I can feel the wind in my hair already! let's race ....

burnin' clean

hey, this is very cool: I heard about this nutritional cleansing program called Isagenix from my friend who painlessly lost close to 20 lbs in about 6 weeks to fit into her wedding dress. I think everyone who went to the wedding must have signed up for the program within a week after seeing how radiant, energetic, and sweet she was. no bridezilla for her! she had been having sleeping issues and mood swings, and this stuff just smoothed it all right out. it was an incredible blessing, and she was so grateful to be feeling like herself again, just in time for her big day!

it's one of those plans where you drink a shake instead of two meals, take a supplement or two, and eat one sensible regular meal a day. then every so often you drink a cleansing drink instead of eating meals for a day or two. at least that's the program I chose. there are some where you have two meals and only one shake a day, I think.

anyway, I knew this would fit in with my philosophy when I heard their premise that the best way to achieve lasting health and a clean burn of energy is to flood the body with nutrients rather than to starve it. I was also excited that they include these little tasty chewable wafers to munch on whenever you feel hungry, because will power is not one of my strong points!

I had been indulging in a lot of sugar and carbs and otherwise nutritionally empty junk foods lately and wanted to free myself from that habit. so I did their 9 day cleanse, and so did a good friend of mine. in nine days, she lost 11 lbs and 11 inches. although my measurements did not change dramatically, my energy levels have skyrocketed, and my cravings and food obsessions are just gone. now I actually WANT salad instead of sweets. I am so thrilled about feeling back in the driver's seat regarding my relationship with food! I suppose there is some way to measure this but I did not take a baseline ... anyway, I swear I can also feel my body becoming stronger and adding muscle mass. leaner and cleaner, baby! woo hoo!

so if you are lookin' for a fresh start, I highly recommend this product. yeah, it's one of those MLM companies, so if you use this website to make your purchase, I get some kind of perk. I'm not even sure what I get since I haven't done any research into the business side of it - I just wanted to be able to buy the stuff at wholesale and feel cleaner and more efficient in my body chemistry, and this is the site they gave me to order from. I know a lot of folks want the same thing, so I wanted to share this info with you. if you have questions or want to talk about it, contact me and I'll find out what I can for ya.

real security

my friend kate sent me this quote in a birthday greeting today:

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no REAL security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power."

day of birth

turning 40 today. I could be imagining this, but it feels like the completion of many cycles and the beginning of even more. good stuff. to celebrate I created an energetic attunement for myself that I would love to share with you. it's about clean endings, letting go of what does not nourish the heart and soul, and eagerly facing the future with both feet firmly anchored in the present.

to receive the attunement, just gaze gently at the graphic below (it's called the spiral of potential energy) and take a few deep breaths, with the intention of inhaling freedom, enthusiasm, and vitality, while exhaling any ideas, beliefs, or concepts you are carrying that inhibit you from expressing your true self. you don't need to know what those pesky inhibitors are - just breathe.

that's it! happy birthday to me! glad to be here ... thanks mom! :)
